My daughter, Julie, @drjuliezelig wanted me to post my response to one by @sassygirlmeditates – as she insightfully used the the process of bread dough rising (and purposely deflating) in a dark place as a metaphor for life. I wrote: “ Yes- and each time- after each deflation, the dough comes back lighter, more voluminous and able to rise even higher, with more strength to hold itself upright! So too, in life. Each time we come back from experiencing adversity (disappointment in what life brings) if we can trust the process- that our dark moments can, depending on how we talk to ourselves and behave in response to our feelings, bring us great personal rewards. Without moving through each corridor of darkness, we can never fully accommodate the light that’s waiting… This sourdough bread, with its rugged crust, has lots of holes on the inside-which could seem like a flaw- like a bunch of wounds. But, those holes are actually the prize! The process of time, patience and trust enabled this dough to be strong enough to support the crumb that’s both resilient and soft. 🙏 Let’s celebrate our softness- and trust in our ability to be resilient, even when feeling dark and deflated
